Well the last few weeks had been totally focused on preparing for the Tinley Park reptile expo where I had my stickery items for sale and was raising funds for USARK with Seri. It was so fun and so successful that I have already started plans to secure a table in March and working to figure out airfare.
So, how many stickers did we actually sell??
With everyone's help, I sold over six hundred stickers and magnets!! How awesome is that!? Wow. And meeting so many of you was a blast!! The success of this show is leading me to vend at the next Tinley Park expo in March. I also met Tell Hicks last weekend (might be or might not be my biggest artist idol) and bought a signed print from him. Although I got a couple hugs from him, I failed to use my brain and get a picture. Oh well. Next time.
There was so much stuff there I didn't even get to see it all. It's pretty hard when you're vending and running a fundraiser from your booth. The quilt generated a lot of interest, and so a lot of questions. With ticket sales alone, we raised quite close to three thousand dollars for USARK. The winner to the quilt also DONATED THE QUILT BACK! Thank you SO much, Terry Splichal for doing that for us! So, Seri and I worked with Phil from USARK to get it up for auction on the RAACA Auctions. You can find the auction being hosted on their Facebook Group (links below).
Who knows what it'll go for now. It'll be exciting to see what happens.
We also had some left-over stickers that came with entries to the quilt. I had printed a ton of these, so that's understandable. We've got these left-over stickers in my store for sale, now. The proceeds of these stickers are still going to USARK, so if you want one get one. We won't be printing ANY more. Whatever is printed is printed and that is it.
Below I shared a few photographs that were taken of myself and my friends at the expo. It was a real blast! Some pictures are from just my vacation, too so you can kind of see what I was up to. I didn't take many, but I did take a few. (If you have some pictures you'd like to share of our booth, or if it's of you and I please send them to me! I'd love to have them!!)
Now that my vacation and vending is done, the store will be back to normal! We're making a few changes, but new artwork and some new holiday items are in store for us come the end of October. I'm working diligently (albeit with the flu AGAIN, thank you Murphey!) to get some more artwork done. Especially in the realm of tortoises, turtles and invertebrates. The weekly blog will also be back up and running. Now that I've done a major show I know exactly what to expect, so I've got a few new streamlined things that help me with the store and with keeping things in line for when shows happen.
I'm also going to be vending at the Pomona show in Southern California come January. That's the Reptile Super Show, biggest show in the country. I'll be vending with some shared space with some of my friends that live down in California. Very exciting! I'll have my own table, but that's the plan.
Thanks for reading! (AND GO FIND THAT QUILT LINK! ;) )
