Honestly, Friday. It's here. This blog post should be named "NO! Not Friday Yet!" It's been a pretty busy week for us here at Happy Gecko Sticky Situation. We've been gearing up for our show tomorrow. Got our table set, banner triple checked, browsing books done, new stickers in shop, inventory counted, book keeping figured out, finances all ironed out. And oh yeah a hotel room. Got that too. Somewhere in there we also finished up some doodles. Don't ask us how it happened. Just did.
Show Times, Dates
We've been gearing up for about a month, getting ready for this show. We've ordered stickers, taken polls from you, bought some much-needed supplies and a banner. Needless to say we're so excited to be able to do reptile shows. This show starts tomorrow. I hope that we'll see you there, because I really love meeting all the awesome folks following us.This is by far the biggest show of the year for us, and we aren't sure if any other show will be able to compare! There are a ton of vendors, some really great educational opportunites with venomous snake displays, tigers and lots of booths with friendly and informative breeders. You can pretty much find any information on nearly any reptile that's in captivity here at this show. You'll see our banner and display here. Jason and I will be manning the table together. I couldn't do this without him. Stop by, say HI! and come meet our little adorable gecko, Maté. We'll also have a raffle for a little snake to benefit Western Oregon Reptile Keepers and their plight for a Snake Awareness Day show this year in June.
Show starts at 10AM till 5PM tomorrow and continues on Sunday from 10AM to 4PM. Hope to see you there! Click the show poster for more information on their website, including other awesome vendors that will have booths.
This Week's New Doodles
Hognose snakes are now available for wholesale options to buy and also for t-shirts. With all your help sharing models with us we were able to complete this snub-nosed little smiling snake. This little guy is available in wild-type coloration and also in albino coloration. Now, every doodle is a new experience. Every doodle gets me closer to the species because I look for models, stare, watch videos, stare more and realise even more why I just love reptiles. These hognose snakes are adorable. I didn't even realise that they come built-in with the cutest little smile ever until I took a good look at them.
Wild type, or normal coloration for reptiles make me happy. "It's just a normal" doesn't really apply to me! They make me very happy. That's how the animal originated. Wild. :)
Next Week's Doodle Schedule....?
After the show we plan to do a little bit of inventory and get our shop on Etsy all squared away. That includes the ever exciting chore of book keeping. Most likely this will take a couple days so next week we hope to get started and finished with a sand boa or two but it really depends on how our schedule pans out. We've got new animals coming in, a sticker order to do and shirt orders to get squared away as well. I'd love to promise you more art. We are rescheduling our Art Tip Tuesday segment to the second Tuesday in April since the expo falls on the end of the month and we haven't even had a chance to think about subject matter. We may talk a little bit about tablets.
Artist in Question
Every quarter I will be interviewing an artist, be it a reptile and herpetological artist or just an amazing artist in other fields. Most of the time, I'll be featuring herp artists since I am a herp-based artist and our followers also enjoy and appreciate the herp arts, but our first Artist in Question will be a very good friend of mine, Jessica Elam. I'm completely honored that she accepted my request to do an interview with her because her artwork is just.... stunning. Can't wait to get her interview out and ready for you all to see and for you to see her amazing work. Mid-April our first segment should be published and you'll be able to see her beautiful work right here.
T-shirts, Get Your T-shirts!
We have t-shirt orders open till next Saturday. That's a little over a week. Any of the new designs that are not in sticker format yet are available for use on these shirts. That includes all the corn snakes, hognose snakes and the hermann's tortoise. They come in mens and women's sizing for your convenience. Although our ad shows an axolotl on the front, you can literally put ANY design that we have drawn on your shirt. ANY design of your choice! :) Dark shirts are fine, too because we've put a white line around the design so the artwork stands out against the fabric.
New Stickers In Shop, Available At the Show
Last weekend we put the Jackson's chameleon, red footed tortoises and sulcata tortoise in our shop. We'll have these lovelies at the show tomorrow, too. While we're at the show, we are going to keep five stickers of each in stock in our shop. That way even though we're gone, you can still shop and get stickers you want. We won't be going into vacation mode anymore. We might not be able to answer questions for you about products until Tuesday. The grey harlequin crested gecko, croc skink and leachie are all stickers that won't be in shop while we're away because their stock is fairly short, but we still want to offer those to our potential customers at the show. Those stickers will be in stock again if they sell out in about three weeks or so. A new order for stickers from our sticker printing company will go in on Monday after we've taken inventory, and the stickers that are low-in-stock will go on that order EXCEPT for the grey harlequin crested gecko. We're phasing him out and putting him in storage. So, if you wanted to get one, we're allowing purchase of that one until around 6:00 tonight.
