This week was mostly used for one last logo I had scheduled for a client. With Halloween going on, I also had some local orders for some custom t-shirts and graphics that I did so my goal for new sticker designs was set back a little bit. There are some new products coming into the store, some for just fall/winter and some for year round. We’ll spill the beans soon on a few new items!
While I didn’t do much art work for stickers the last… ohhhh probably month or so I do have a little fine art print I have been doing here and there. It’s taking me a little bit of time to do because I want it to just be perfect. Fine art prints are going to be available in our store full time after I’m done drawing this one. I’ll have one new fine art print to work on every six months or so. Sooner if I’m able to dedicate more time to art.
I did, however debut one of my first from the line of Sea Slugs and Nudibranchs I’m doodling. This little guy is probably my favorite species of sea slug. Just… so striking. These guys are indigenous to the Great Barrier Reef near Australia and are only 4 cm long! SO tiny! It’s amazing how such beauty can be so small. While they are sea slugs, these little guys are not actually nudibranchs. Nudibranchs are technically different from the scientific ‘sea slug’ label.
We’ll be seeing one sea slug or nudibranch a month for the next year.
Here you can see one of my works in progress. It’s of my very own boy Tenmoku. He’s a Hainan Cave Gecko (Goniurosaurus hainanensis.). I’ve got a lot of work left to do on this. While his facial features look great to me, I still want to work on the back half portion, feet and tail. And of course, that background is nowhere near complete. Once I’m finally done with this piece, though, I’ll have twenty 8x11 prints available for $25 each. They’ll be numbered and signed and on a limited edition run. This will be the case for all my fine art prints.
I am getting SO antsy to tell you about two new items joining us in November! So, I’m going to tell you about one of them. The other will remain a secret till debut. You’ll hear about it on most of our social media sites and of course here for the blog.
My friend made me this beautiful buttercup bag for Christmas last year and ever since I’ve been teeming with desire to make them for the store. These will be in stock full-time year round but are scheduled currently for an end-of-November release. I’m starting out with ten bags to see how they do! Some of you were able to see this purse on display at Tinley Park earlier this month. We're starting out with this style, but I've already got a bunch of styles in my planner.
The store is starting out with this green leachie print, some crested geckos and axolotls with the same design as on our pencils. While this style of bag will be available year round, the fabric prints will be limited and seasonal. Eventually I hope to have a few designs available in my Spoonflower shop for fabrics that you can buy direct, but that won’t be the case for a long while and those fabrics will also be limited and seasonal. The majority of my fabrics are going to be an exclusive item for my own shop use.
Any New Stickers Soon?
This weekend is chock full of personal activities, so there won’t be much artwork I’ll be doing and updating you on till at least Tuesday. I have seven new animals on my list of things to-do. I was going to do some tortoises, but we may wait a little bit longer before we go that route. Instead, I’m going to get a couple large lizards and some more invertebrates. I also HAVE to do another gecko or two. Mostly because I enjoy doodling the geckos more than anything else since I love them the most out of all reptiles. So keep an eye out for a savannah monitor and another tegu!
USARK Quilt Auction
It’s over. Already. Man. It’s been so so wonderful doing this fundraiser. I just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved, Phil Goss from USARK, Seri who made the quilt, everyone who bid, and most of all to Jessica Jager-Pawlak who won the quilt and bid $780. 100% of which is going straight to USARK. Thank you. Thank you thank you thank you! It’s been an emotional, wonderful, and fun-filled journey with all of you and I’ve been so grateful and happy to have got to know everyone that came our way during this fundraiser!
Thank you so much for the support and for reading!
