Goodness, do I just love geckos. There are thousands of species of them in the world, and so many that haven't even been discovered yet. Recently, there's been a new species described in Thailand by scientists. It's exciting news, but also sad since we don't even know what we're missing out on species wise. There are forests and habitats being destroyed everywhere. What else is out there that we don't know about?
Cyrtodactylus saiyok is one of many new species coming up in Thailand. This species of gecko is a light colored gecko with dark contrasting bands. The common name used to describe it is the
Sai Yok bent-toed gecko. It's a small gecko that can get up to two and a half inches long. You can read more about this interesting and beautiful species in this article written by Mongabay.com. It also mentions a little bit about the process it takes to describing a new species.
